White House Conference on Aging Tampa, FL Regional Forum
By admin
On February 19, 2015 the White House Conference on Aging Regional Forum was held in Tampa, making it the only regional forum held in the entire Southeast.
Since the 1960s, the White House has held a Conference on Aging (WHCOA) in an effort to find new ways to improve the lives of older Americans. Some examples of policies that became official following a Conference on Aging were: Increases in Social Security benefits and making Social Security benefits inflation-proof.
Ideas presented during the Tampa discussion will be used at the next WHCOA on July 13th, 2015 to assist in the development of new policies within the following topics:
- Healthy Aging
- Long-Term Services and Supports
- Elder Justice
- Retirement Security
Want more details? Be sure to refer to the comprehensive website WHCOA created to provide information regarding the series of Policy Briefs and how you can contribute to the discussion.
